  Rain before Noah's flood

  does anyone know the current thought on what happened before the flood?

  i remember being taught that it never rained before the flood but now they are telling me that was never taught.

  i thought i remembered a quote somewhere saying something to the effect of "can you imagine how the outsiders must have felt feeling those first drops of rain?

  Guys, you've been out too long. This was the "New light" on the rain thing back in 1998 and it was actually in the Insight book before that. It wasn't new this year at the DC. trust me.

  Had there been rain prior to this? The Bible does not say. Genesis 2:5 says: "Jehovah God had not made it rain." But this is how Moses, who lived centuries later, expressed matters in discussing not Noah’s day but a time long before that. As shown at Genesis 7:4, Jehovah referred to rain when speaking to Noah, and evidently Noah understood what he meant. Yet, Noah’s faith was not in what he could see. The apostle Paul wrote that Noah was "given divine warning of things not yet beheld." God told Noah that He was going to bring upon the earth "the deluge of waters," or "the heavenly ocean," as a footnote in the New World Translation expresses it at Genesis 6:17.

  This is not a defence of the teaching, just an update so we can be current in our criticisms.

  I AM SUCH A KLUTZ! Hello!

  i've been lurking here and reading for a couple of months now.

  i was also a jw for a few years but got myself dfed when i started asking difficult questions, wouldn't stop asking them, and kept pointing out how the wts didn't make any sense.

  i am an unrepentent rebellious one who was warned and publically reproved until finally i finally had it out with the elders and they showed me the door.

  so...everything had been fine for a while.

  i wrote my da letter, very clear and also very surprinsingly "apostate" according to the elders.

  so at first, dad does what he's told is right and starts the shunning.

  Everyone has a song

  everyone has a song that reminds them of a particular moment in their lives, happy or sad or sometimes indifferent.

  its only that when you hear that song it takes you back even catching you off guard and suddenly your back in high school or remembering someone you loved and lost.

  how many of you have a song that reminds you of leaving the org.

  I ran away from home when I was 11 and Happy Together was on the radio coming out of the houses I walked past. There was another kid's bike in front of his house, I almost stole it but thought better than to make that poor kid feel bad about losing his bike.

  "How Can I Tell You?" by Cat Stevens, from head to foot a shock shoots through me and makes my hair stand on end. First love gone forever and unreclaimable youth.

  Ever know anyone killed by a drunk driver?

  often people i work with will mention how they, or someone they knew, drove when they had been drinking.

  although they make light of it, because they lived and no one got hurt, they seem to develop a braver and more confident ability in their driving while intoxicated and seem to think the law is not for them.

  i personally, hate to hear about this and this is why.. a good friend of our family, a non witness that we grew up with.

  In San Jose California in 1982 a young person I knew, not a witnoid, was at a party at a cemetary in the Santa Cruz mts. He was drunk, on pills and weed. He drove off down the hill with two passengers, two fleshly brothers... one 18 and one just 16. Of course he came around a corner and there were headlights in his lane. He panicked and slid into the parked car of a 15 year old joyrider who was taking a piss next to the car. The drunk's car hit it like the top part of a T, the post in the middle of the passenger side was pushed into the middle of the car. Both boys were dead on the scene. The driver lived.

  There were over four hundred at the funeral. There was an NBC news program then called "First Camera" who came to Saratoga and did a program on the accident, interviewing a young couple who refused to ride in the car and had tried to take the keys from the driver so he couldn't leave. They even tried to disuade the boys from driving with this fool. He had turned 18 three days before. By some clever lawyering he recieved two years in the youth authority. He received a huge scar from his neck to his belly button when they opened him to see if he had any damage. He carries that scar to this day. He was a haughty S.O.B.

  You're absolutely right. What bothered me was that they always suggested profit based prices for thier "NON-PROFIT" literature! The WT library on CD probably cost them 1.00 to produce, if that and they were saying, "Similiar collections could cost 40 or 50 dollars elsewhere."

  That always pissed me off. Why should it cost the same as some worldly organization that "Sold" CD's for profit? Really made me mad.

  several times i saw john edward asked about people who died who did not believe in an after life.

  You know, my mom died in jan of 04 and if anyone could find a way to contact us after death it would be her. Since she hasn't, it confirms for me that show's over at death.
